Why Our Recycled Polyester?
Why Recycled Polyester? Isn’t it more expensive to use as a material than virgin Polyester? Polyester is a material in major demand and is forecasted to double in consumption by 2030, according to the Greenpeace. At the same time, our society has shifted its focus onto the world’s release of carbon emissions spiked by human activity, more well known as Climate Change. Evidently, plastics have been known as a major contributor to this phenomenon, accounting for roughly 4 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. As global awareness grows, the Textile and Fashion industry has shifted towards fulfilling the global demand of environmentally friendly, socially conscious ethical production. Major multinational companies have been part of this movement and we have been at the forefront of it in Thailand’s Textile industry. We whole-heartedly support the consumption of recycled materials and play our part in decreasing carbon emissions by providing innovative recycled fabrics that meet the demand and price points of our consumers.
How? By consuming less fossil fuels which are processed to make plastics, including Virgin Polyester. Instead, our suppliers produce recycled Polyester, by taking PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) and processing it into yarn that we use. This creates Recycled Polyester, as we transform the most common type of plastic into another plastic material to be reused, instead of consuming raw materials. We encourage our consumers to support this cause to decrease their own carbon footprint, contributing to slowing down the plastic catalyst that increases global temperatures. Recycled Polyester production requires 59 percent of less energy than virgin Polyester, resulting in a decrease of 32% of carbon dioxide emissions compared to producing virgin Polyester. Our community in Thailand and across the globe will benefit from these changes in the long run. You could also support the ecological environment, preventing more plastics from infiltrating oceans and landfills, using up land space and hurting wildlife, such as native turtles and birds. We assure you that Recycled Polyester is no less than Virgin Polyester in terms of durability and capability. It is as good as, if not better, than new.
As a consumer, how can you authenticate that the material is recycled? You can demand a certificate by our company to show the supply chain starting from the very top to the retailers. The certificate is certified by professional third parties that regulate the industry, similar to ISO standards. Be part of the movement! Help your own Earth for you and your future generations. Help Bulliontex resist the depletion of natural resources and we can move towards restoring the ecological balance of the world.
